Fusetto is a new brand with a smart scented candle. Real flame, smart control: a genuine flame you light and extinguish with the remote, with a timer of half an hour, one hour or two hours and tilt detection in the base. The system consists of a base station that houses the electronics, a soy wax refill with a double wooden wick, a glass design cap in ten colors, a remote control and a luxury gift box.
Launching a new product normally means a photoshoot first and a website second. Every color, every combination, the packaging and the remote have to go in front of the camera, at a stage when the product itself is still being finalized. Fusetto took a different route. The product existed as a digital twin first, and all launch content came from there.
At a launch, content sits between the product and the first sale. Fusetto needed a website that was complete on launch day: a header, packshots of all ten colors, on their own and with the remote, lifestyle images and the packaging. With photography that means building, lighting and shooting every color and every combination physically, and doing it again as soon as anything about the product changes.
On top of that, a colored glass cap is hard to capture consistently. The color runs from intense at the bottom to almost transparent at the top, and the facets on the inside of the glass refract the light. Ten colors side by side on a website only work when they are shot in exactly the same setup, the same light and the same angle.
Nova built a digital twin of every component in the Fusetto system: the candle with base station and refill, the design cap in all ten colors, the remote control and the gift box. One pixel accurate digital version per component, ready to be assembled in any combination.
From those twins, all product content for fusetto.nl was created inside the Nova platform. Packshots of every color, on its own and with the remote, consistent in angle, lighting and composition. Lifestyle images of the candle at home, on the table and next to the gift box. And a 3D viewer that shows the candle from every side. Artiq Motion produced the imagery in the Nova platform themselves and used the same twin as the basis for the launch animation.
A glass cap with a color gradient is exactly the kind of product where an image is quickly "almost" right. That is why the twin was checked together with Fusetto down to the details: the twelve facets on the inside of the cap that refract the light, the gradient fading to transparent towards the top, the milk glass of the refill and the timer icon on the middle button of the base. Those details were captured once in the source, and every packshot and every lifestyle image carries them automatically.
The design cap is what makes the product. In the twin, that cap is one component with ten materials, so a new color is a matter of switching, not reshooting. Frosted White, Clear Glass, Oak Brown, Amber Orange, Velvet Purple, Deep Purple, Midnight Blue, Moss Green, Emerald Green and Obsidian Black appear on fusetto.nl in exactly the same angle, the same light and the same composition. If an eleventh color comes along, that is one new material in the source and a complete set of images within minutes.
Zero photoshoots
All product content on fusetto.nl comes from the digital twin: the header, the packshots per color, the lifestyle images and the packaging. Not a single product photo was taken for the launch.
433 images from one source
Ten colors, on their own and with the remote, as packshots and lifestyle images: 433 images that all show the same product, because they all come from the same source.
More than product content
The same twin was the basis for the launch animation by Artiq Motion. What is captured once can be reused for every new form of content: a campaign, a new scent or a new color.
Website, social media, packaging imagery and the launch animation all start from the same digital twin at Fusetto. Wherever a customer comes across the candle, the color of the cap, the glass and the base are the same product that ends up in the gift box. And a new color, a new scent or a new campaign needs no shoot, only a change in the source.
Fusetto shows what a digital twin does at a product launch. The product is digitally complete before the website goes live, every component is modeled once, and every color and combination is assembled from there. Everything Fusetto shows online matches what the customer receives, without the product ever standing in front of a camera.
One digital twin per component. Ten colors. 433 images. Zero photoshoots.
